What Is Teeth Whitening?

Teeth whitening is a cosmetic treatment that uses concentrated peroxide gel to oxidize stain particles and leave whiter, brighter surfaces behind. Our dentist offers same-day in-office whitening and take-home custom trays, and both work extremely well depending on your smile goals and your timeframe. These professional-strength products cannot be bought over the counter and are only available from a dental professional. Because whitening is non-invasive, it is a safe and affordable way to enhance the overall appearance of your teeth.

The Benefits of Teeth Whitening

Brighter Teeth

Our whitening gel safely lifts seven to eight shades or more from your smile, which is well beyond what any drugstore kit on the shelf could hope to reach.

Safer Results

Working with a dental professional helps prevent the unwanted side effects that can come from unsupervised use of commercial whitening products at home.

Faster Treatment

Professional-strength products work more quickly and remove far more stains than any commercial product does, often in only about an hour of chair time.

Managed Sensitivity

Our dentist helps you identify the products and the ingredients that prevent and manage any sensitivity that whitening your teeth might possibly end up causing.

Our Step-by-Step Process

Curious how it works? Here is how we brighten your teeth.

    Friendly Consultation

Dr. Dabirian checks that your oral health is in good shape and chats with you about the bright smile goals you already have in mind.

  2. 02

    Cleaning First

A quick cleanup removes any plaque or tartar buildup, which sets the perfect stage for the whitening gel to reach the deeper stains.

    Gel Application

We apply a professional-strength whitening gel, and sometimes a special light as well, to boost the stain-busting powers of the gel.

  4. 04

    Relax Time

You sit back and relax for about an hour while the whitening gel goes to work on the deeper stains held inside your tooth enamel.

  5. 05

    Aftercare Tips

Before you go flaunting that radiant smile, we share the daily habits that will keep it sparkling for as long as it possibly can.

Signs You May Need Teeth Whitening

Whitening tends to make the biggest difference in these situations.

  • Dietary Staining — Coffee, tea, and red wine have gradually dulled your enamel, leaving your smile noticeably darker than it used to look in photos.

  • Gradual Yellowing — Teeth absorb stains as the years and the decades go by, so your smile can darken over time even with excellent daily hygiene habits.

  • Upcoming Event — A wedding, reunion, or photo session is coming up soon, and you want visible results without any invasive dental treatment first.

  • Restorative Planning — New crowns or veneers are somewhere in your future, and whitening first lets those new restorations be matched to a brighter shade.

Why Choose Us for Teeth Whitening in Canyon Country

Two Whitening Methods Offered

Same-day in-office treatment and take-home custom trays are both available. We discuss the pros and cons of each.

Candidacy Checked First

Whitening should never go over active cavities or gum infection. We confirm your mouth is ready beforehand.

Sensitivity Managed Proactively

Sensitivity toothpaste and a fluoride rinse help considerably. We build that into your plan from the start.

Touch-Up Guidance Provided

Take-home kits let you refresh after each cleaning. Heavy coffee drinkers may want to touch up more often.

  • Dr. Dabirian is professional, and gentle. As a woman who does not enjoy dental visits, he always makes the experience warm and friendly while thoroughly explaining everything he's doing and why it's important which was very comforting and distracting (during numbing shots he did it seamlessly!) If you visit you'll know you're coming to a professional who actually cares. The office is also nice and clean.

  • Recently visited. Had to leave my dentist office of which I was a pt for over 20 years due to his retirement The new owners didn't have my insurance. You can imagine after having the same dr for yrs I was apprehensive. The staff at Canyon Country Dental were extremely nice. I received very good service. Xrays we're done very efficiently. Jollee was professional and quick to make what can be an uncomfortable procedure, doable. I read that sometimes they upsell. However, I feel the extra services they offer are all optional and there is no pressure to buy. They are current and offer up to date services ie your chart is electronical and you can access it from your phone. I think I will be very content with my care at this office.

  • I've seen Dr. Dabirian three times now (one general cleaning/X-rays, and two visits for fillings), and I can confidently say he's the best dentist I've ever had. From the moment I walked into the clinic, it's so so clear Dr. Dabirian cares about the patient experience. He explains everything he's doing before and during treatment, walks through X-rays in detail, and never leaves you wondering what's happening in your own mouth. But I have to give Dr. D his flowers for the tiny details! Just a few examples: during numbing injections, he'd gently shake my cheek to help distract from a pinch; he gives me a squishy mouth block to help relax my jaw; after a filling, he asks over and over how my bite feels, happily making tiny adjustments until it feels as close to my natural bite as possible. Marta is fantastic too. The two of them have great banter, and every visit feels like visiting folks who have known me for 20 years. The office itself is clean, spacious, and comfortable. They use digital forms and text reminders that make everything easy peasy. Most importantly, Dr. Dabirian is just a genuinely kind person who's clearly passionate about helping people. I recommend Canyon Country Dental Care without hesitation. (And at the time of writing this, they accept Medi-Cal patients!)

  • Let me start by saying Dr. Dabirian and his team are GREAT! After recently moving to Santa Clarita (2 years ago lol) and not wanting to drive 40 min to my old dentist, I finally bit the bullet and to find someone closer. I am so happy I found Canyon Country Dental and they are absolutely awesome. I dont feel like he is trying to get me to do unnecessary work and he explains everything as he goes. His assistant (Martha) is sweet and makes me feel comfortable and well taken care of. I am so glad I found them as i am not to keen on going to the dentist...hence the 2 year postponement lol

Frequently Asked Questions
About Teeth Whitening

Don't see the answer you're looking for? Call us at 661-347-5410.

How much does teeth whitening cost?

The price of teeth whitening in Canyon Country, CA, depends on whether you choose the same-day in-office treatment or take-home custom trays. Our team provides an exact quote at your consultation before anything is scheduled.

Does insurance cover teeth whitening?

Cosmetic treatments are usually excluded from dental insurance coverage entirely. We keep pricing on teeth whitening in Canyon Country, CA, straightforward so you know the cost before you begin.

Should I have my teeth cleaned before whitening them?

Yes. Plan your dental cleaning just before a whitening treatment so the gel can target deep stains rather than surface buildup.

Does teeth whitening hurt or cause sensitivity?

Used as directed, whitening products are extremely safe and gentle on your teeth. Our dentist will explain how to combat possible sensitivity, and a sensitivity toothpaste or fluoride rinse can be extremely helpful.

Will whitening products damage my tooth enamel?

Whitening should not be used on any teeth with active cavities or disease, since the ingredients could cause pain or irritation. Our dentist confirms your teeth and gums are healthy before treatment begins.

What ingredients are used to whiten teeth?

Various types of peroxide, such as carbamide or hydrogen peroxide, oxidize stain particles to leave whiter surfaces behind. Each is suspended in a thick gel that minimizes gum irritation and better penetrates the teeth.

What causes tooth stains?

Coffee, tea, red wine, and cigarettes are the usual suspects, though teeth also absorb stains as the years and decades pass. Certain medications can cause enamel staining as well.

How do I keep my smile white?

Brush twice a day and floss daily to prevent buildup, and rinse with water after anything dark enough to stain a white shirt. Two professional cleanings a year polish away surface stains and keep results going.

Am I a good candidate for whitening?

Good candidates have healthy teeth and gums with no active cavities or gum infections, and whitening suits adults of all ages as well as older teens. We recommend avoiding whitening products if you are nursing or breastfeeding.
